Pre waxing Stop using Accutane, Retinol, AHA, BHA If you have been using products containing accutane, you need to stop using these products for at least a year before getting waxed. Discontinue using any products that contain ingredients which chemically exfoliates or dries the skin out for at least 1 week prior to waxing procedure. Examples of these ingredients are Acid/Lactic Acid/AHA's, Salicylic Acid/BHA's, ProActive, Avita, Benzoyl Peroxide. These products can create thinner skin and this can possible cause the skin to tear, lift, burn or scab when waxing Three weeks of growth Please allow at least three weeks of hair growth before booking you appointment. The hairs need to be at least 1/4 of an inch (around about the length of a grain of rice OR, about half the length of your little finger nail) in order to wax and achieve a cleaner wax If you do not shave, please, do not trim! It’s better for the water to have to much hair than not enough to work with. The hair is too short, the hair will not pull!
Please avoid caffeine and alcohol On the day of your waxing appointment, please avoid caffeine and alcohol as it can stimulate the nervous system which can lead to more sensitive and reddened skin You may take pain killers one hour prior to the appointment such as ibuprofen to help dull the pain, providing this has not been a contraindication by your doctor
Come fresh and clean Exfoliation is importantly prior to waxing using a physical exfoliant. This can help draw any in growing hairs to the suffice. Please practice the same level of hygiene as you would giving you GP a visit. Having clean skin wearing clean cotton under garments is recommended Wax adheres to clean skin and hair, free of sweat, oil and impurities Please utilise the personal wipes provided at your service if needed
For those of us who menstruate The best time to get waxed is two weeks after your menstruation ends. You will be much more sensitive the week before and after your periods. If you are menstruating, you can still get waxed, but please make sure you are wearing either tampon or cup. Pregnancy is also a more sensitive time
Post wax Avoid irritating or stimulating the area Avoid wearing tight clothing such as jeans, tights or stockings straight after treatment. If you are prone to folliculitis avoid wearing clothes made from synthetic material Avoid exercise that will cause excessive perspiration (this includes sex, sorry!) Do not go swimming or have a spa, hot bath, jacuzzi or sauna for 24hrs Avoid applying deodorant or perfume on the waxed area for 24hrs No touching the freshly waxed area for 24hrs Do not use make up for 4 to 12hrs Do not exfoliate skin or use products that contain AHA's for 2 days Please avoid sunbathing, sun beds or application of fake tan for 48hrs
Exfoliation Start exfoliating the are once the tenderness and redness subsides. Normally this can take 1-3 days. Exfoliating gloves are recommended because they can be washed, dried and sanitised. This can reduce the chance of in growing hairs, bumps or pimples. Products which contain salicylic acid or glycolic acid can be used to treat any bumps or in growing hairs
Moisturise Moisturising your skin regularly can prevent dry, brittle hairs that can break at the surface during waxing Moisturising daily will lubricate the hair follicle which will help the hairs pullout much easier
Please, don’t shave! Please try to avoid shaving in between your waxing appointments. Shaving disrupts the hair growth pattern and will make your next wax more uncomfortable also you will notice thinner hair after waxing, shaving will bring your hair back to a thick strand, like it was before you started your waxing regime.
Any person under the age of 18 must be accompanied be a parent or guardian for all treatments. Minimum age for waxing service is 12yrs, for tinting is 16yrs
