HOW TO USE THE COLOR FRESH MASK AT HOME
Let’s talk application. Note to colourists: you’ll want to memorize these tips, so you can talk clients through them when they ask about maintaining their salon shade.
Doing it yourself at home? No problem. Here are the steps…
1. SHAMPOO AND TOWEL DRY HAIR
So far, so easy, right?
2. USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND PUT A TOWEL AROUND YOUR SHOULDERS
We recommend a pre-loved towel or even a t-shirt – something you don’t mind getting hair colour on.
3. APPLY YOUR FAVORITE COLOR FRESH MASK GENEROUSLY
Smooth it through hair section by section, then use a wide toothed comb to distribute the mask evenly. Next, leave it to develop for 10 minutes. If hair is long, you could even twist it up into a topknot while you wait.
4. RINSE WELL, STYLE AND GO
Skip conditioner – the mask is all you need. It will leave locks soft, smooth, manageable and ultra-moisturised.

Keeping your styling tools clean is just as important for hair maintenance as washing your hair, so we've consulted Steve Elstein, Vice President of product development and research at ghd, to discover his top tips for keeping your styler in pristine condition, so you can enjoy a good hair day every day.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR STYLER

“Ceramic plates of straighteners can harbour grime if not properly cleaned. Hairspray, oils and other heavy products can build up not only on your hair, but on your tools too, on top of oils that are secreted from your scalp, which can damage your locks if the device is not regularly cleansed.
Our normal advice is with your styler turned off and unplugged, use nail varnish remover on organic cotton wool to wipe down the styler plates and body. The cotton wool should be damp but not dripping. You may need to rub hard depending upon how dirty your styler is. Allow to dry for a couple of hours before plugging in and using and only do so when it is dry. You should never use water or water-based cleaners to clean your styler – this is a very dangerous practice. Also, we wouldn’t recommend wipes unless they are organic and biodegradable since they typically contain plastic.” says Steve Elstein, Vice President of product development and research at ghd.
